We've been
'Blooming'
busy!
Sitting down
on the job seems to never be the case,
especially at this time of year! And what a
wonderful Spring Mother Nature sprung on us this
year!
The model
home turned out amazingly well at the Caledon
Home Show last month! And for everyone who
dropped in to say "hi", thank you.

I can create
displays this summer using the real:replica
ratio that works for you. Just click on the
window box for some
ideas. |
The biggest
hit for the season has been our mixing of
replicas with real plantings and bringing what
we do to the outside, inside. Can you tell which
are real and which are replicas between the
outside and inside displays? Believe it or not,
every planting in the window boxes and the
garage urns were replicas. With the record
breaking heat we've experienced so far, we
figured our theme this Summer is going
completely water free, allowing home owners to
just concentrate on their garden beds and not
worry about watering their displays. And as I
fooled you, you can now fool
others!

For years
now, Summer Time has been about
bringing the indoors,
'outside'. Well, I'm noticing the trend
is more bringing the outside,
'inside'! People noticed that I took
the outdoor plantings and incorporated them
inside the house. And at first, they just
assumed the outdoor plantings were real and the
inside were replicas. Though the replicas we
used were visually life like, they are lacking
in the fragrance department. These indoor
displays made it back to my place after the Home
Show, and when the bulbs finished their natural
life, I "plucked" them out and inserted new
bulbs &/or replicas. How do you make
it less fussy? Just change your
real:replica ratio. In this example, I
have an 80:20 real vs. replica. Just change it
around. TIP: If lowering your real factor, just
make them more fragrant florals, like hyacinths
and lilacs! Bella
Aroma!

Here comes
the Bride!
Ahhhh... and
as Mother Nature has been providing wonderful
weather, what would Spring time be without a
blushing bride?
Ashley was
my beautiful moving display at the Home
Show. For all of you that were able to
"catch the bouquet" and take a little blossom
souvenier home with you, thank you for making
Ashley feel so pretty and special! Though
we created a garden wedding in the middle of the
Community centre parking lot, the romance of a
Wedding was captured, not the parked
cars!
Do you have
a Wedding or Bridal Shower coming up? I can help
make an event of
it!

The
"Inside" factor of making an
Entrance!
Since the Home Show, I've
noticed the concept of bringing the outside,
inside has been embraced. Maybe its because of
the warmer than usual weather we are
experiencing, as most are preparing for the
Summer to be a scorcher. Mother Nature is
unpredicable, who knows what she's going to be
throwing our way.
But what is common, is
everyone's lives are busy, and with plans for
being at the cottage more, or taking extended
weekend getaways, we are all wanting a lot more
'muss' without the
'fuss'!
As mentioned above, its
the balance of the real:replica ratio you need
to factor for both indoor and outdoor floral
displays.
Whether its a a center
piece for your coffee table or dining room or
television space, we can make an event of any
entrance, even if its not an
occasion.
There are simple rules
you can apply to make a dramatic statement to
any botanical display you
want.
First, decide if you are
going to venture it yourself, or hire a
professional.
Second, what is your
real:replica ratio? Your vacation schedule and
summer habits should be taken into consideration
when figuring this part
out.
Third, how dramatic do
you want to go? Do you want it personalized with
objects de arte that mean something to you, or
do you want them seasonal?
At Grand Entrance, we're
ready to create botanical solutions that will
complement your lifestyle.

Breakfast
for Kids is an in-school program that
provides breakfast to school students as they
arrive. "Breakfast
Revolution" is an early morning
fundraiser I'm helping by creating a welcoming
entrance and center pieces. Just click on the
flyer to learn about this great program!
"Back to
School" seems to be the theme for
me these past few months. I helped roll out the
red carpet at not one but two school official
openings. I wish school was as welcoming as these
when I was a kid - I may have paid more attention!
:)
"Back to
Basics". We sketch out a plan on
any Grand Entrance design, and everyone loved what
we did for the one school, they insisted the red
colours and carpet be repeated for another school
opening the following
week.
Castlemore
Public had contemporary architecture elements in
their entrance structure, so we used silver urns
to compliment it. Carberry was more traditional,
and being a French emersion school, I couldn't
resist incorporating the Eiffel Tower, adding
additional poppies & using my french Provencal
influenced urns. They were impressed how Grand
each Entrance was. I got an A+ on both
assignments!
As no two
people are the same, I apply the same logic to
places. It would have been easier to just move the
urns from one school to the other, I would never
do that. I visited Carberry the next morning, and
the inspiration to play on the French was my
unique factor.
No two events
or businesses are alike. I can emphasize your
business personality with a preliminary visit,
making your grand opening or celebration a
welcoming
occasion!
